frequently asked questions

Are you allowed to pickup driftwood?

Yes - as long as you follow the rules.  In BC, driftwood may be collected on crown land if its above the tide line, free of bark, beach worn and less than 10 feet in length.  You can not pickup driftwood if on private or native land.

Have you carved the pieces?

No!  The markings you see have been done by nature.  I try to take advantage of natural knots and wear for eyes etc.  Intricate carving that you may observe are probably the work of a teredo worm or mollusk who occupied the wood while it was at sea.

Can I custom order something?

Yes - you can custom order wall hangings...however as each piece is unique and totally dependent upon the driftwood that I'm able to collect I can make no guarantees that it will be exactly as you ask.  To see your options, visit the online shop HERE

where do you find your wood?

Where do you find your driftwood?

I work exclusively with ocean driftwood that I've picked up on the West Coast of BC, Canada.  I find it to be smoother, drier - and honestly, it smells better.  I pickup most of my wood around Boundary Bay - namely White Rock and Tsawwassen.  I also have pieces from Victoria, Port Hardy, Power River and Tofino.  I always have my eye out for finds whenever I'm close to the water.
